What are Time Control programs?

Time control programs specifically monitor and limit the amount of time that can be spent online.

These programs allow the user to:

  • Block access to the Internet during specific times of the day
  • Schedule the number of hours that each child can use the computer
  • Create different settings for each member of the family
  • Share computer time amongst siblings

How do Time Control programs work?

  • Each child has a profile to use in order to access the computer and/or the Internet
  • Users are automatically logged off of the computer when their time is finished
  • You can create different settings to suit your family’s needs

Time control programs may be useful for:

  • Families with multiple children and/or multi-aged children
  • Parents who work late or travel often
  • Children who neglect household duties, homework, or physical activity in favour of using the Internet
