Introduction to performance testing

The aim of the performance testing was to measure the performance impact of applying server based Internet content filtering applications and appliances to an Internet feed in a controlled environment.

Testing was concerned with identifying the amount of degradation in throughput of a broadband connection due to the introduction of the server based content filter. In this case throughput is determined by the number of virtual user requests from client computers that can be handled by the test web server (measured in requests per second).
