What is an Internet Scam?

A scam is usually something that deprives you of money or opportunity. Scammers use the Internet in a number of ways to promote scams.

  • promoting fraud through email
  • promoting pyramid schemes via websites
  • unexpected advertising materials which are displayed when searching the Internet

Many free offers are displayed on the Internet in websites and email which often turn out to be scams.

The basic rule of thumb is that if something seems too good to be true it probably is!
