Managing the Risks
Internet safety is an issue for all students of school age when using the Internet. The issues are comparable but different in a primary and secondary schools.
To effectively be able to manage the risks associated with the use of the Internet, it is important to gain an understanding of the typical Internet skills that students have at various levels of education and appreciate the associated Internet safety issues.
Teachers should also be conscious of mixed-ability groupings in any given class. Knowledge and skills that are assumed to be taught at lower levels may need to be reinforced to ensure all students can engage with the Internet safely.
