Q2: Who is CyberQuoll for?
A2: CyberQuoll for designed for students, however support materials have been developed for teachers to use to help educate students about Internet safety.
Parents and carers are also encouraged to use CyberQuoll at home on the Internet with children in their care.
Q3: What are the System Requirements for CyberQuoll?
A3: CyberQuoll is delivered in two versions:
a) Internet Version
- Adobe (www.adobe.com) Flash 7 Reader is required to watch the animations.
- Internet Browser (eg. Internet Explorer, Firefox).
- Adobe (www.adobe.com) Adobe Reader is required to read pdf files.
- Multimedia Computer - Appropriate memory, sound card and speakers.
b) Stand Alone Version
As well as the above, a CD-Rom drive or appropriate local/network hard drive is required to run CyberQuoll as a stand alone program.
Q4: What does it mean when you need to “choose a size” to view the animations?
A4: There are two different ways that users can view the animations.
One way is to click on the box that says “Small – 460 x 330”. Choosing this option will display the animations in the small framed box on the website. This is the option you should chose if your computer is relatively old and slow, and you have a ‘dial-up’ connection to the Internet.
If you have a newer and faster computer, with broadband connection, you should choose to view the animations by clicking on the box that says “Large – 760 x 560”. Choosing this option will display the animation in a new pop-up large window.
Q5: Is there a particular order in which I should undertake the 6 animations?
A5: You should view Animation 1 - “Introduction” first. Once you’ve viewed this, you can choose to undertake any of the remaining 5 animations, in any order you choose.
The 5 animations are stand-alone and not dependent on each other. Each animation showcases important Internet safety themes.
If you or your class are very busy and would like to undertake just one animation that encapsulates most of the key Internet safety messages, then choose animation 6.
Q6: Where can I provide feedback?
A6: NetAlert is interested in any feedback that you might have about CyberQuoll or the overall NetAlert CyberSafe Schools project - whether it’s about the web site, the resource that you are using, or something you would like to see.
Please direct all feedback to NetAlert using the feedback form in the ‘Help’ box, above.
Q7: Where should I go if I would like to find further information on an Internet safety topic
A7: Visit the NetAlert Advice Centre.
